The festival of Russian language being organized by the foundation Russkiy Mir in India attract a big number of crowd.
The fourth festival of Russian language and literature is being organised by the foundation Russkiy Mir and Pushkin centre of Russian language attracts the lovers of Russian language and literature in the Sothern region of India one of the main attraction of the festival was the Olympiad which was held in three cities, more than 400 students participated in the Olympiad out of which 150 endured into the last round.
The festival which also comprises round table discussions, seminars, get-together of Russian language teachers and students, literary evening etc. provided opportunity for Indians to know more about the culture of India’s strategic partner, Russia.
Governor of Kerala who was the former chief justice of India Mr P. Sathashivam inaugurated the festival; in his inaugural address justice P.Sathashivam stressed the role language and culture in promoting bilateral ties ‘Relationship between Russia Ns India is based on the people to people relation. role of organisations like Russkiy Mir contribute significantly to cement the relations among nations the festival which is being organized by the Russia Mir foundation is a model for the rest of the world’, said the governor of Kerala. Mr Fyodor A. Rozhskiy, Head of the cultural department of the Russian Embassy in New Delhi who is the chief representative of Rossothrudnichestvo in India presided over the function in his speech he Mr Fyodor A. Rozvskity assured the assistance of the Russian embassy in carrying out such activities that will help the promotion of Russian language in India. The state secretary for cultural affairs Government of Kerala Mrs Rani George deliver key note address. Prof Abhai Maurya, former Vice chancellor of the university of English and forging languages in Hyderabad felicitated the occasion. The honorary Counsel of the Russian federation in Trivandrum Mr Ratheesh Nair welcome the gathering.
Round table discussions on various subjects like contemporary Russian Literature, Russian and Indian Literature – a comparative study, Role of social media in promoting Russian language where also held as part of The festival experts in Russian language from all over India participated in the discussions.
Former minister of state for forging offers who had also served as the under secretary general of the United Nations Dr Sashi Taroor Inaugurated the Olympiad for school and college students.
Minister of revenue, Government of Kerala Mr Adoor Prakash Inaugurated the closing ceremony of the festival in his inaugural address Mr Adoor prakash said that people in Kerala know Russian Literature and hence a bridge of friendship could be established between people of Russia and people of India.
Mayor of Trivandrum Sreemathi K Chandrika presided over the function. In her address the Mayor thanked the foundation Russkiy Mir for selecting Trivandrum as a venue for the festival of Russian language and literature. Prof Gorgey Tolaraya Regional Director (Asia and Africa) of The Foundation Russkiy Mir was the Guest of Honour. He presented the sixth Sergei Yesenin award to Mr K.Jayakumar for his contribution in popularising Russian Literature in India. The award is instituted jointly by Moscow state Yesenin Museum Prof Tatyana E.Perova, chief coordinator for the Russian Language institutes in India that come under the cultural department of the Russian Embassy, delivered key-note address.
Mr P.Gopinath who was selected for the special mentioning award for his role in promoting Russian culture in India was honoured in the function. Three members of Indo-Russian Youth club were also honoured by Prof Tolaria for their contribution in promoting Russian culture among the new generation.
Eleven newspapers and six TV channels in south India carried the news of the festival.
