In 2008, the Yesenin Museum of Moscow, in cooperation with the Russian Federation Consulate in Kerala, India, established the annual Sergei Yesenin Award. The award is given to Indian citizens for their contribution to the dissemination and popularization of Russian literature.

2020 — Dr. Govindan Nair, former head of the Russian Language Department, University of Kerala,
2021 — Venu V. Desam, writer, poet and translator,
2022 — Terattil Gajanan, Russian Language Department of the University of Mysore (Karnataka) professor.
The next Award ceremony will take place in December 2023 in Trivanantapuram (India).
